This paper investigates grounding fault location technology in distribution networks based on the integration of Feeder Terminal Units (FTU) and the traveling wave method. It begins by elucidating the fundamental principles underlying both FTU operation and traveling wave-based fault detection, followed by an analysis of the synergistic advantages achieved through their combined application. The study further examines critical implementation components, including data acquisition and processing mechanisms as well as fault feature extraction techniques. The findings demonstrate that this integrated approach significantly enhances both the accuracy and efficiency of fault location in distribution networks, thereby providing robust technical support for ensuring safe and stable system operation.
